Organizers of First Time 5K Run Ready For Big Weekend

 width=Organizers of a first of it's kind event in Clinton are gearing up for a big weekend.

The "Swifty Swine 5K Run/Walk" at Weldon Springs State Park are gearing up for their first time event. Lead organizer Margie Gehres indicates they have found registration numbers to be positive leading up to the event, and expect many more Saturday morning.

Attempting to get a boost in awareness, Gehres and her fellow organizers turned the social media avenues. She indicates their Facebook page has been very successful and some of the same names she sees that like their page have also turned up on their registration list.

Much thought and consideration went into the date for such an event and according to Gehres, she found other communities, in particular Monticello, who host like events, organizers have indicated they found attendees of races would like to have something to do in the community afterwards.

Paper applications can be picked up at the Dr. John Warner Hospital or online registration forms are available through active.com, and a search of "Swifty Swine 5K" will take you to the DJWH event registration form.

Race day registration is available. The race takes place at Weldon Springs State Recreation area at 7:30 am with the race beginning at 8 am.
