United Way's 2013 Goal Met As 2014 Drive Preparations Begin

The local United Way exceeded their 2013 goal during their annual drive for their yearly budget in DeWitt County.

The organization just wrapped up their yearly fund distribution which is decided by local volunteers and donors. Debbie Bogle with the United Way, explains they raised over $63-thousand in 2013 which surpassed their goal of $40-thousand. She notes there are many worthy agencies and organizations that will benefit from the funds.

United Way begins each fundraising year with nothing and the total is always determined by what each community is willing to give. Bogle notes the sum of many components help to acheive the yearly total.

There are many ways for local citizens to get involved in this year's United Way campaign. Bogle explains local businesses have allowed their employees to donate through payroll deductions in the past. She stresses every dollar counts during these yearly drives and stays in the community it is raised in.

Bogle notes this year's drive will continue through the end of 2014. Funds won't be distributed till late Spring or early Summer in case of late donations.
