Fire officials say a child playing with a lighter likely started a fire that displaced two families at a Bloomington apartment complex.
Reports indicate officials estimate the fire in the three-bedroom, two-story town house Tuesday caused about $80,000 worth of damage. No injuries were reported. The apartment next door sustained smoke and water damage.
A woman rented the home where she lived with her four children, ages 3 to 12.
Deputy fire chief Les Siron says the fire started when one of the kids was playing with a lighter near a closet.
The woman didn't have renters insurance. The Red Cross is assisting the family.v
