Homers Lift Cards Past Giants In NLCS Game Two

(St. Louis, MO) -- Kolten Wong hit a solo homer down the right field line in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Giants in Game Two of the NLCS from St. Louis. Matt Adams had given the Cards the lead in the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer, but Matt Duffy scored from second in the top of the ninth on a wild pitch to tie the game. Oscar Taveras hit a solo shot in the seventh to knot the game at three, and Matt Carpenter smacked a solo homer in the third for St. Louis. Seth Maness [[ MAY-ness ]] grabbed the win. Cards catcher Yadier Molina left early with a strained oblique. Sergio Romo suffered the loss in relief. The best-of-seven series is locked up at 1-1 with Game Three on Tuesday in San Francisco.

(Kansas City, MO) -- The American League Championship Series resumes Monday night from Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The Royals have jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series after winning the first two games over the Orioles in Baltimore. Jeremy Guthrie will take the ball for KC against his former team. It will mark his first-career postseason start. The O's counter with left-hander Wei-Yin [[ way-yen ]] Chen, who gave up five runs in three-and-two-thirds innings in his start during Game Two of the ALDS against the Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. Eastern.
