Blues, Blackhawks Lose

(Nashville, TN) -- James Neal recorded his fifth-career hat trick to lead the Predators past the Blackhawks 3-2 at Bridgestone Arena. Filip Forsberg recorded two assists and Pekka Rinne [[ PECK-uh REE-nay ]] made 30 saves for the Preds, who improved to 5-0-and-2 on the season. Andrew Shaw and Ben Smith scored for Chicago, which slipped to 4-1-and-1. Antti Raanta [[ AHN-tee RAHN-tuh ]] allowed all three goals on 27 shots in defeat.

(St. Louis, MO) -- Ryan Miller stopped 31 shots against his former team to carry the Canucks to a 4-1 win over the Blues in St. Louis. Chris Higgins and Nick Bonino each had a goal and an assist for Vancouver, which snapped a two-game skid. Linden Vey and Jannik Hansen also scored in the decisive three-goal third period. Kevin Shattenkirk scored for St. Louis, which has alternated wins and losses to open the season. Jake Allen allowed three goals on 22 shots in defeat.
