(Undated) -- St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras is dead at 22. According to the player's agent, Taveras and his girlfriend were killed Sunday afternoon in a car wreck in the Dominican Republic. Taveras just completed his rookie season. He played 80 regular season games and hit .239 with three homers and 22 RBI. Taveras had a homer and hit .429 in the postseason.

(Undated) -- Major League Baseball players and teams are taking to social media to express their condolences to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals lost young outfielder Oscar Taveras to a car wreck in the Dominican Republic on Sunday afternoon. He was 22-years-old. Team general manager John Mozeliak [[ moe-ZAY-lock ]] says he can't believe the news. Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Junior says they are stunned and saddened. The rival Chicago Cubs said, "Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Oscar Taveras." The Giants and Dodgers are among the many organizations sending out prayers following the accident. Cardinals players have also expressed their sympathy via Twitter.
