>>Minnesota RB Peters Reaches Plea Deal

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson reached a plea agreement in the child abuse case against him on Tuesday.

Peterson was facing felony charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child after he was accused of using a wooden tree branch to hit his 4-year-old son as a disciplinary measure, resulting in visible injuries to the child.

 width=Instead, he pleaded no contest and reached an agreement to a lesser charge of one count of misdemeanor reckless assault and will avoid jail time. He is also expected to get probation, pay a $2,000 fine and serve 80 hours of community service.

Peterson is currently on the NFL exempt list while the court proceedings continued. It is unclear when or if the star running back will be reinstated.

>>Rice Appeal Hearing Begins Today

(New York, NY) -- The appeal for former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice begins today in New York. The two-day arbitration hearing will include testimony from both Rice and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Rice is hoping to be reinstated and is challenging Goodell's use of power in first suspending him two games, then indefinitely for knocking his now wife unconscious in a casino elevator. Goodell claims what Rice described had happened was inconsistent with what the surveillance footage later showed, leading to the harsher penalty.

>>Giants CB Amukamara Out For Season

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- The season is over for New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara [[ uh-MOO-kuh-MARE-uh ]]. Head coach Tom Coughlin confirms he will miss the rest of the season with a torn biceps. Amukamara was hurt in Monday night's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He had 45 tackles and three interceptions in eight games.

>>Steelers' Polamalu, Shazier Out Against Jets

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without a couple hard hitters for their Week 10 matchup against the New York Jets. Head coach Mike Tomlin says safety Troy Polamalu [[ pol-ah-MAH-loo ]] and rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier [[ shay-ZEER ]] will both miss Sunday's game. Each player exited last weekend's victory over the Ravens with injuries. Polamalu has a knee sprain, while Shazier is dealing with an ankle injury. Polamalu has 51 tackles and a forced fumble in nine games this season. Shazier has 26 tackles in five games.
