Blues Win Again

(St. Louis, MO) -- David Backes' third period goal held up as the Blues edged the Devils 4-3 to sweep the home-and-home series at Scottrade Center. Backes' tally gave St. Louis a 4-1 lead with 2:32 to go, but Marek Zidlicky and Michael Ryder scored a minute apart to pull New Jersey within one. Vladimir Tarasenko [[ tare-uh-SANK-oh ]], Jaden Schwartz and Alexander Steen also scored for the Blues, who have won seven straight including a 1-0 victory in New Jersey on Tuesday. Jake Allen stopped 24 shots in the victory. Ryder scored twice for the Devils, who had won two in-a-row before running into the Blues. Cory Schneider allowed three goals in 47-plus minutes of action, while Keith Kinkaid stopped three of four shots the rest of the way.

(St. Louis, MO) -- Paul Stastny [[ STASS-nee ]] is back with the Blues. He was activated from injured reserve before last night's game against the Devils. Stastny had missed the previous eight games with a shoulder injury. He signed a four-year, 28-million-dollar free-agent contract in the offseason.

(Chicago, IL) -- The Blackhawks are back on the ice tonight against the Capitals at the United Center. Chicago comes in at 7-5-and-1 after a 5-0 win over the Canadiens on Tuesday. The Capitals are 4-5-and-3 following a loss to Calgary on Tuesday.
