Governor-Elect Bruce Rauner is trying to build a bridge with the two top Democrats in the legislature. He had a meeting with Senate President John Cullerton and House Speaker Michael Madigan in Chicago this morning. They discussed the state budget, which will be the biggest issue that Rauner faces as he steps into the governor's role in January. That's when the income tax rate will roll-back from five percent to three-point-75-percent, leaving the state with a four-billion-dollar shortfall. An aide says the meeting was cordial and professional.
