Monticello Teacher Nominated For Teacher of the Year

 width=A Monticello teacher was recently a nominee for the Teacher of the Year award in Illinois.

According to Dr. Vic Zimmerman, Superintendent of Monticello Schools, Jennifer Smith, a middle school science teacher attended a banquet last month in Bloomington as a part of an awards ceremony. And while Smith did not take home the award, Dr. Zimmerman says he and the district ought to be very proud she was nominated.

Academics at Monticello are annually very strong. According to Dr. Zimmerman, the fact one of their faculty can be recognized emphasizes the importance of academics in the district.

Dr. Zimmerman feels he has one of the best school leader positions in the state of Illinois. He credits the work of his Board of Education, administrators and teachers for all working together for the betterment of the students and the schools.
