The Mayor has a couple concerns regarding the use of the property. She says the city used TIF funds to purchase the property from a negligant owner, and is concerned if they sell it for city use, they would lose out on possible tax dollars a business or independent owner could provide. She also is concerned about funding to fix the property up for a suitable fire station.

Commissioner of Public Safety, Jerry Milton indicates he'd like to see the plans for a new fire house before any decision is made on the future of the property. He says funding can come from a number of sources, including grants.

Commissioner Tom Edmunds says he understands both sides of the argument, however, he feels the property could be a multi-use facility. He notes the future fire station is not anything that will happen in the immediate future.
