Democrats say letting people register to vote on Election Day last month was a huge success. It was just a trial run but State Representative Barbara Flynn Curries says people should always have that option.

Now they're pushing to allow same day registration during all elections from here on out, but Republican state rep Ed Sullivan says it's too soon to make that call.

The bill would also extend the early voting period. It cleared a House committee yesterday and is headed to the floor for a vote. Republicans aren't so quick to jump on board with the idea, though. They'd rather see a full analysis of how things actually went on Election Day before supporting it. Republicans have argued that the same-day registration is ploy to convince more Democratic voters to get out and vote.
