The DeWitt County Angel Tree is joining forces with local police departments in order to provide a great Christmas for area kids.
The Clinton Wal-Mart will once again be the location for Shop With a Cop this week. A grant through the retail giant allows fifteen local kids to team up with a local police officer to pick up some wanted and needed items for Christmas. Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers explains the interactions between the kids and cops are always a highlight.

Events like these help to enhance kids' perception of police. Chief Lowers explains it reinforces the fact police are there to help and this event provides a human connection for those participating.

Sue Calvert, the head of DeWitt County's Angel Tree, echoes Chief Lowers feelings regarding the event. She believes Shop With a Cop helps to relieve holiday stress from parents who may not be able to provide all that their kids need or want during the holidays.
