Peoria Toddler Pronounced Brain Dead After Beating

A 19-month-old Peoria boy has been pronounced brain dead a day after police say he was beaten by his mother's boyfriend.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Koffi Harris was pronounced brain dead Tuesday in the pediatric intensive care unit at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Ingersoll says the boy will remain on life support until his organs can be donated.

According to police, the boy was brought to the hospital unconscious Monday night and with multiple injuries, including head trauma.

Reports indicate, 19-year-old Deon Davelle Wells has been charged with aggravated battery. He is being held on $1.2 million bond.

Online court records do not show whether Wells already has an attorney.
