DNR Officials Discouraging Illegal Deer Carcass Dumping

With the busy hunting season nearly wrapped up for 2014, local Department of Natural Resources officials are encouraging outdoorsmen to properly dispose of their dead deer carcasses.

Conservation Police officers will many times find deer carcasses illegally dumped along roadsides or even in wooded areas they shouldn't be. CPO John Williamson says a deer carcass disposed of improperly can lead to disease and many other things.

Williamson says it is often just as convenient to abide by the law as it is to break it. He explains there are plenty of legal avenues to take to properly dispose of a deer carcass.

Williamson indicates the illegal dumping of deer carcasses is considered a wildlife code violation which would be a deduction of points against hunting privelidges.
