Ridgeview Tops Monticello In Hoopla Championship

 width=For the second straight year, the Monticello Sages took on Ridgeview in the championship game of the the Monticello Holiday Hoopla, and for the second straight year, Ridgeview took home the title, defeating Monticello 65-56.

An early 9-5 advantage with just over 5 minutes to play in the opening period was the largest lead for Monticello before a 19-6 run into the second quarter sunk the Sages as Ridgeview never relinquished the lead, and expanded it by as much as 17 into the fourth quarter.

Monticello was led by the 18 points of Noah Freemon, who struggled from three-point range, going just 2-9 and the Sages shot just 6-21 from long distance Monday.

 width=Zach Fisher chipped in with 16 points and six rebounds. Isiah Florey added ten points and three boards off the bench.

Monticello outrebounded the Mustangs 35-27.

Four players finished in double-figures for Ridgeview. Austin Zielsdork stuffed the stat sheet 14 with 14 points, six boards and four assists. Caleb Jones also had 14 points and four rebounds.

Luke Ward chipped in with 13 points and William Tinsley added 10. Tyler McCormick had eight points, five boards and five asssits as Ridgeview moves to 12-1 on the season.

The Sages drop to 6-2 in the early going and will play Saturday at Tri-Valley at 2:30 pm.
