Blues Host Detroit Tonight; Hockey Notes

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues welcome the Red Wings to Scottrade Center tonight. It's the fourth of a seven-game homestand for St. Louis, which doubled up Edmonton 4-2 on Tuesday for its fifth straight win. Detroit beat Buffalo 3-1 on Tuesday and has won three-of-four and six of its last nine games.

(St. Louis, MO) -- Blues backup goalie Martin Brodeur [[ bro-DURE ]] is taking a one-week leave of absence. The 42-year-old signed a one-year deal in early December. Brodeur has played in seven games for St. Louis, but hasn't even suited up the last five. His future will be determined upon his return.

(New York, NY) -- Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews [[ Tayvz ]] will serve as one of the captains for this year's All-Star Game. Nick Foligno of the Blue Jackets will be the other in his hometown of Columbus. Chicago's Patrick Kane will be an assistant captain for Foligno, while Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf and Rick Nash of the Rangers will be assistants for Toews. The fantasy draft is next Friday while the All-Star Game is two days later on January 25th.
