It was standing room only as nearly 80 people converged in the meeting room at the Richland Community College Clinton Education Center Wednesday night, to hear information that will help farmers decide one of many options being given them in the new Farm Bill.

WHOW THE BIG 1520 AM and 92-point-3 FM hosted what it called a "WHOW Farm Bill" meeting sponsored by Peterson Insurance.

Todd Gleason from the University of Illinois, who is heard on WHOW weekdays at 2:06 on the Closing Market Report and Saturday mornings at 8:30 on Commodity Week, was the emcee, and introduced Gary Schnitkey, an expert on the recently-passed Farm Bill, also from the U-of-I, who did a number of power point presentations showing how decisions farmers made today, will affect their farms for the next 5 years.

Eric Alberter (al-ber-ter) of the DeWitt County Farm Service Agency, closed the evening with remarks, encouraging farmers to get to his office as soon as possible to avoid delays in filing their decisions. The deadline to file is February 27th.

WHOW thanks all the farmers and agri-business people that attended Wednesday night's Farm Bill meeting. Segments of the meeting will be heard in upcoming Morning and Noon Farm Shows, and the complete hour-and-a-half session will be posted on our farm web portal, illinoisfarmradio-dot-com.
