Before a bill to legalize fireworks has even been introduced, a group of medical and firefighting professionals have fired a shot of opposition.

An Illinois State Senator says that people are already crossing the state line to get fireworks for private displays and he wants to keep that revenue in the Land of Lincoln.

Current state law only allows for non explosive fireworks to be bought and sold within state lines. Violating the law could produce Class A misdemeanor charges.
