A proposal to revive an abolished legislator scholarship program seems to be dead on arrival, according to several lawmakers and one of the bill’s sponsors.
Democratic Representative Thaddeus Jones has proposed House Bill 1397 that would reinstitute giving lawmakers the ability to dole out scholarships to state universities. A similar program was abolished in 2012 after reports of abuse. Illinois News Network has more.
