Advocates Ponder Next Step For Rauner Budget

Groups that depend on government dollars have not been silent in their dislike of Governor Bruce Rauner’s proposed budget.

But advocates are now wondering what’s next. Emily Miller with the educational group Voice for Illinois Children says just about every group that is set to lose in Rauner’s smaller state budget is gearing up for a fight.

Miller said cuts to education and health programs may cost more than they save.

The governor said during his budget speech that Illinois has run out of money, and this is the budget that the state can afford.
