>>Former Cardinals DT Dockett Signs With San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers and defensive lineman Darnell Dockett have agreed to a contract.

Dockett's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, revealed the news Thursday via Twitter.

"Congrats to the newest Niner!" Rosenhaus wrote accompanied by a picture with Dockett.

Dockett, a three-time Pro Bowl pick, was released by the Arizona Cardinals last week. He missed the entire 2014 season after suffering a knee injury in training camp.

 width=The 33-year-old veteran had spent his entire career with the Cardinals, who selected the Florida State product in the third round of the 2004 draft. He has compiled 459 tackles, 40 1/2 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions in 158 career games.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones- Drew has announced his retirement from the National Football League.

Jones-Drew spent last season with the Oakland Raiders. He carried the ball just 43 times for 96 yards in 12 games.

The 29-year-old spent the first eight seasons of his career with Jacksonville, totaling 1,804 rushing attempts for 8,071 yards and 68 touchdowns from 2006-13. He also had 2,873 yards and 11 touchdowns receiving with the Jaguars.

In a statement he posted on Twitter, Jones-Drew said: "After much discussion with my family and business team during this off-season, I've decided to retire from the National Football League. The past nine years were absolutely amazing! I'll be forever grateful to the countless people who have assisted me throughout my NFL career. To my fans and NFL fans worldwide, you are the absolute greatest! But for you, our league would not exist. Football has been a central part of my life for the past 24 years. But now I'm excited about and looking forward to the next chapter of my life."

The three-time Pro Bowler won the NFL rushing title in 2011 with 1,606 rushing yards. He was drafted by the Jaguars in the second round of the 2006 draft.

>>Panthers Extend TE Olson

The Carolina Panthers signed Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen to a three-year contract extension on Thursday.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Olsen's contract is worth $22.5 million and includes a $12 million signing bonus.

Olsen was coming off a career season in which he compiled 84 catches for 1,008 yards, setting new franchise records by a tight end for the NFC South champion Panthers. He also added six touchdown receptions.

The 29-year-old is the only tight end to catch at least five touchdown passes in every season since 2008 and has played in 126 straight games.
