Former WHOW Personality Passes Away Monday

A longtime WHOW personality passed away Monday.

Bill Ward lent his on-air talents to WHOW in Clinton for over fifty years beginning in 1947. Throughout his time, he witnessed the AM station move from the south side of the Clinton square to its present location in the Big Red Barn. He recalled several of these memories in a 2007 interview for WHOW's 60th anniversary.

WHOW provided a great starting point for may radio personalities and county music acts. Ward said he had many good times during those early years and was always pleased when listeners remembered his on-air work.

Ward also remembered the Clinton businessmen who jump started the original WHOW. He noted the station was located on the top floor of a local ladies department store on the Clinton square.

Ward stressed he was always proud of his work on WHOW and believed Clinton deserved a quality radio station.
