>>Dodgers Sign Cuban Prospect

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Cuban free agent second baseman Hector Olivera have
reportedly agreed to terms on a six-year contract.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the contract is worth $62.5 million over the length
of the contract and includes a $28 million signing bonus.

Olivera, who will turn 30 on April 5, was a standout offensive player in Cuba and can
also play third base. He was ranked as the No. 4 prospect at the 2009 World Baseball
Classic by Baseball America.

width=Multiple teams were, however, concerned about Olivera's health. He missed the 2012-
13 season with what was said to be a blood clot in his left arm and may reportedly need
surgery to repair a damaged ulnar collateral ligament on his throwing arm.

The highly-touted infielder is not the first Cuban defector to sign with the Dodgers in
recent years, as Yasiel Puig, Alex Guerrero, Erisbel Arruebarrena and Pablo Millan
Fernandez have also left their native country to play in Los Angeles.

The Yankees, Braves, Marlins, Giants and Padres were all reported to be interested in
signing Olivera.

>>Twins Ink 2B Dozier

The Minnesota Twins have signed second baseman Brian Dozier to a four-year contract
worth $20 million.

Dozier's new deal will carry him through 2018 and buys out his remaining three years
of salary arbitration. He will earn $2 million this season and $3 million in 2016 before a
raise to $6 million in 2017 and $9 million in 2018.

The 27-year-old native of Mississippi batted .242 with 23 homers, 33 doubles, 71 RBI,
21 stolen bases and 112 runs scored in 156 games last season. He became the third
Twin to hit at least 20 homers, steal 20 bases and score 100 runs, joining Kirby Puckett
(1986) and Corey Koskie (2001).

Dozier broke into the majors in 2012 and owns a career .241 batting average with 47
homers, 77 doubles and 170 RBI in 387 big league games.
