The San Francisco 49ers waived offensive tackle Jonathan Martin on Thursday.

The 49ers acquired Martin in a trade with the Miami Dolphins on March 11, 2014. He appeared in 15 games (nine starts) for the 49ers last season.

Martin walked away from the Dolphins in October 2013 amid claims he was bullied by former teammate Richie Incognito. He had started the first 23 games of his NFL career before abruptly leaving the team.

The Dolphins took Martin in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

>>Steelers Sign WR Heyward-Bey

The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Last season with the Steelers, Heyward-Bey had just three catches for 33 yards in 16 games. He played mostly on special teams, notching seven tackles.

The seven-year pro was originally selected by the Raiders with the seventh overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft and spent four seasons in Oakland before joining the Colts for the 2013 campaign.

Heyward-Bey has played in 88 regular-season games with 65 starts, hauling in 172 passes for 2,413 yards with 12 receiving touchdowns.
