DeWitt County HRC Unsure of Upcoming State Funds

The State of Illinois' recent budget cuts could soon hurt several important programs and organizations.

The DeWitt County Human Resource Center has not been directly affected by Governor Bruce Rauner's budget cuts yet, but other local programs indirectly impact them. Executive Director Lynn Scoville says many of the cuts have been made to vulnerable programs dealing with issues such as Autism.

The HRC is currently concerned about the future of their prevention programs. Scoville is not sure how the Center would continue offering these programs without State funding and over 80% of HRC's operating budget comes from the state.

Many of HRC's clients are unable to pay for services and need state funding according to Scoville. She adds they need to look for other ways to acquire revenue including fundraising and growing their businesses.

Businesses such as the Encore Thrift Store provides HRC with their biggest revenue of the year. Scoville hopes amping up their services there will help them with their bottom line.
