New Mayor, Commissioner Sworn In; Changes Abound

The Clinton City Council welcomed a new Mayor and Commissioner of Public Health and Safety to the Council Monday night.

Roger Cyrulik has been sworn in as the City's next Mayor and Dan Ballenger is now the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. One of the first items of action taken by the Mayor was to fill vacant Dr. John Warner Hospital Board positions and make replacements.

Former Board President Randy Workman, Aaron Kammeyer, Shelly Miles, and BA Nelson, have been reappointed to the hospital board. Miles will occupy the expired term of David Wilson and Nelson will replace hospital board member Evan Severson.

Mayor Cyrulik nominated Mike Bray for the hospital board, but his appointment was voted down 3-2. John Wise, Tom Edmunds, and Nan Crang voted against his appointment.

Before any changes were approved, Commissioner Nan Crang addressed the use of social media towards public officials. She asks those using social media to be respectful when presenting their opinions.

The Mayor also feels it his role to only appoint Board members to the hospital board and to let them run the hospital as they see fit. He feels they have good nurses and doctors, and hopes continue to improve the care at the facility through the new board and the acting CEO.

Additionally, Clinton Fire Chief Shawn Milton stepped down today. Read more about that today at dewittdailynews.com.
