Sox Win; Cubs, Cards Lose

 width=Gordon Beckham's two-out RBI single in the ninth inning gave the Chicago White Sox a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the rubber match of a three-game set on Mother's Day.

Aroldis Chapman (1-1) retired the first two batters of the ninth, but Avisail Garcia kept the frame alive with a single and Alexei Ramirez followed with a base hit. A wild pitch moved the runners up a base, and Beckham dropped a single to right-center for the win.

Emilio Bonifacio drove in two runs while Ramirez also had an RBI for the White Sox, who have won four of their last six. John Danks went seven innings and allowed a run on six hits, while David Robertson (3-0) got the win despite blowing the lead in the ninth inning.

Zack Cozart went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Reds, who have dropped three of four. Michael Lorenzen allowed a run on seven hits while walking four in five innings.

Jung Ho Kang homered to open the scoring and his RBI single in the seventh closed it to help the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jordy Mercer and Gregory Polanco each drove in a run for the Pirates, who took two of three in the series.

Jared Hughes (1-1) picked up the win in relief of Jeff Locke, who went 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on five hits.

Kolten Wong homered in defeat and Jason Heyward knocked in a run for the Cardinals.

Mitch Harris (1-1) was dealt the loss for his role in the seventh inning.

Martin Maldonado's walk-off single in the 11th inning provided the Milwaukee Brewers with a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Sunday's rubber match.

Jason Motte (1-1) took the mound for the Cubs in the deciding frame and gave up a leadoff double to Ryan Braun. Adam Lind was intentionally walked and Braun moved up to third on Khris Davis' deep flyout to center.

Jean Segura was purposely walked to load the bases and Maldonado hit a fly ball to right to score Braun and give Milwaukee the win.

Maldonado and Elian Herrera hit back-to-back homers in the seventh and Michael Blazek (3-0) earned the win after striking out two in a perfect 11th inning for the Brewers, who won the final two games of the series.

Starter Matt Garza surrendered just one run on three hits with nine strikeouts over seven frames.

Miguel Montero homered and Anthony Rizzo supplied two hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who had starter Kyle Hendricks toss 5 1/3 scoreless frames, giving up just five hits with three strikeouts.
