Social Security Assists Seniors with Prescription Costs

May is Older Americans Month and Social Security is aiding seniors in prescription drug costs.

Medicare Part D, which is a prescription drug program, is signed up through private insurance companies regulated by Medicare. Jack Myers, with Social Security, says their role is to assist beneficiaries with finances such as deductibles and co-pays.

Those with Medicare Part D may be able to get assistance from Social Security if your income is below a certain amount. Myers notes exclusions can be found on their website or by phone. Applications can also be filled out on behalf of a loved one.
