LCHS Leader Has Hopes for New State Superintendent

One local superintendent is reacting to the new Illinois State Superintendent.

Governor Bruce Rauner recently appointed Tony Smith as the new State Superintendent when former superintendent Chris Cook's contract expired. Lincoln Community High School Superintendent Robert Bagby says Rauner has the right to make whatever decisions he feels best and hopes that the state's current education issues are addressed.

The role of State Superintendent has changed over the years according to Bagby. He notes the position has become of a figure-head over the year but they still should have their finger on the pulse of what's going on in state education.

Bagby feels the new Superintendent need to communicate effectively with the Illinois Legislature especially when it comes to school funding.
