Several local organizations are joining forces to provide needed lunches for community kids this summer.

The U of I Extension of DeWitt County along with the DeWitt County Human Resource Center and DeWitt County Housing will be providing summer lunches once again this year. Sherry Fulton, with U of I Extension, says they will provide educational activities surrounding the lunch each day.

The last few years have seen forty to fifty kids attend the lunches each day. Fulton notes the HRC hires a cook who prepares menus weekly that the kids really enjoy. She adds there are also many great role models who plan the activities for each day.

Kids need to be registered the first day of the lunches which will be June 8th. All kids under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information on summer lunches, you can contact the U of I Extension at 217-935-5764.
