One of Clinton's most popular businesses will be building a new storefront downtown.

Clinton Save A Lot, currently located off Center Street off the downtown Clinton Square, will be building a new store just across the street, east from their current location, bordered by Madison, Washington and Monroe Streets. Owner Dave Jackson says they plan to relocate later this year.

Jackson indicates the move has become a necessity for their long term viability. He explains their sales have continued to increase in recent years. The plans have taken nearly four years to become final, and in a 100 year old building, they are in great need for a bigger facility.

Going back to before 2012, Jackson realized he was going to need a new storefront to accomodate the company's growth. He says there were several hurdles that stood in their way if they wanted to move to the property they have now purchased.

Jackson hopes to start moving ground and getting construction going early this summer with a completion date of later this year. He notes he did want the store to be open last year at this time, but delays caused that initial plan to be put on hold.
