Senators Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) and Daniel Biss (D-Evanston) are joining forces to file legislation that would automatically register eligible Illinois drivers to vote.
Manar says it's a matter of common sense.

The new plan allows people to opt out of the automatic registration.
Oregon enacted a similar law this spring, and similar proposals are being debated in California and New Jersey. 9.9 million Illinoisans are of voting age but only 7.5 million are registered.
