PGA Tour Opens Byron Nelson Championship

width=The PGA Tour finishes its quick Texas two-step at the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship this week.

Last year, Brendon Todd closed with a 66 to grab his first PGA Tour title. Todd and Louis Oosthuizen shared the third-round lead, but Todd earned the title thanks to a bogey-free final round. Oosthuizen stumbled to a 4-over 74 in the final round to slide into a share of 11th place.

Former Masters champion Mike Weir was the story early on, but ended two back after a closing 67. That was Weir's first top-10 since 2010 and his best finish since ending second at the weather-shortened Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2009.

Todd returns to defend his title against a field that will be headlined by reigning Masters winner Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson and 2010 champ Jason Day. Spieth is coming off a tie for second place last week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

Spieth made his first PGA Tour start at this event in 2010 at the age of 16. He opened with three straight rounds in the 60s before a closing 72 left him tied for 16th.
