Steven Bowditch fired an 8-under 62 Thursday and grabbed a 2-shot lead after the opening round of the Byron Nelson Championship

Bowditch has one PGA Tour win, which came last year at the Texas Open.

Jimmy Walker, who won the Texas Open earlier this year, is alone in second place after a 6-under 64. Ryan Palmer and James Hahn share third place at minus-5.

Keegan Bradley carded a 4-under 66 at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas and was joined in fifth place by Tom Gillis and John Merrick. Dustin Johnson headlines a group of 13 players at minus-3.

Masters champion Jordan Spieth carded a 1-under 69 and is part of a large group tied for 33rd. Spieth started with a birdie at the first, but followed with eight straight pars.
