Football: Six Illini Preseason All-Big Ten

 width=Six Illinois players were named to Phil Steele's preseason All-Big Ten teams, released this week. Senior linebacker Mason Monheim was a first-team selection, one of six Fighting Illini recognized.
Senior wide reciever Geronimo Allison and senior offensive lineman Ted Karras were Second Team selections.

Senior Runningback Josh Ferguson and senior defensive lineman Jihad Ward were Third Team picks.

And junior linebacker T.J. Neal was a Fourth Team selection.

Monheim led the Fighting Illini in tackles in 2014 with 111 and has 294 career stops during his first three seasons. Allison hauled in 41 catches for 598 yards and five touchdowns in 2014, while Karras is a three-year starter and unquestioned leader on the offensive line. Ferguson is one of the top dual-threat backs in the nation (735 rush yards/427 receiving yards and 10 total TDs in 2014), Ward is primed for a breakout senior season after notching 8.5 TFLs, 3.0 sacks and recovering four fumbles last season, and Neal ranked fourth on the team with 98 tackles and had 6.5 TFLs in his first year as a starter.
