Plan To Separate Lincoln Museum, Library Advances

The Illinois Senate agrees to separate the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum from the control of Historic Preservation officials.

Now it's up to Governor Rauner to decide if the ten year old complex will be under the control of its own agency. State Representative Tim Butler weighs in.

There are signs of trouble because the Rauner administration still wants what was previously negotiated, a plan to convert the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity into a public/private partnership.

The Illinois House voted that down saying more study was required.

The same legislation shifts the Illinois State Museum to the control of the Historic Preservation Agency.
