Senior Fan Drive Going on Now at DeWitt County Friendship Center

The weather is warming outside, which means it is probably time to turn that air conditioner on.

For most, turning on the A/C isn't a second thought, but for others, the decision is turning on the A/C or paying for groceries or medications or the electric bill. According to Sissy Leggett, Executive Director of the DeWitt County Friendship Center, seniors who face this decision in Clinton and DeWitt County have an outlet once again this year to help keep their homes cool.

Last week, Ameren announced a rate hike in the delivery charges for electricity, which is going to increase everyone's bill across their service area. Leggett says in some years they could give out as many as 80 fans and feels it very important they be an outlet for seniors to be able to stay cool this summer.
