Thunderstorms Drop Several Inches of Rain Across Central Illinois

Thunderstorms that rumbled through Illinois Sunday evening and into the early morning hours dropped several inches of rain in much of the area.

According to Teresa Barnett, DeWitt County Emergency Management Agency Director, DeWitt County was under a Thunderstorm Warning which resulted in downpours across the County. She says every part of the County was effected by the storm.

In DeWitt County there were some reports of damage from the storm. Barnett indicates reports came in of anything from tree limbs down to power poles that were down.

Barnett says there was no out of the ordinary flooding. She points to typical flooding areas in Clinton at Van Buren Street at the viaduct that flooded but that was the only report she received.

Reports of several inches of rain came in from across the area via cocorahs.org.

According to cocorahs, in Clinton, a report of 2.14 inches came in and near Farmer City, there was a report of just over an inch of rain.

 width=In Lincoln, several reports came in ranging from 1.25 inches to 1.75 inches. West Logan County had reports of over 2-inches of rain and northern Logan County had reports of almost at nearly 5-inches.

In Bloomington-Normal, reports ranged from 3.25 inches to 3.6-inches of rain. Elsewhere in McLean County, near Heyworth reports of over three-inches came in while in northwest McLean County, reports ranged from 2.5 inches to 3.5 inches.

According to cocorahs.org, Piatt County was spared. Report ranged from just short of 1.25 inches in Monticello to just over an inch near DeLand. Other reports in Piatt County ranged from 1.25 inches to just short of two-inches in other areas.

Champaign County, in Champaign-Urbana recorded totals ranging from 2 inches to 3.5 inches and across the county as well.

Reports were limited in Macon County from Sunday's rain but just outside Decatur, an 1.5 inches of rain was reported there.
