After the mass shooting at a black church in Charleston some lawmakers are looking again for answers to stop the all too familiar news.
Senator Dick Durbin says that there needs to be a way to keep the hands of those with serious mental illness gun free. Durbin wants background checks for gun purchases to include more safeguards.

Durbin says there are many forms of mental illness that don’t pose a threat to someone owning a gun, but more needs to be done and wants to do everything reasonable and humanly possible to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill.
