CENCOM To Showcase Upgrades, Discuss Future of Emergency Response

If you're interested in what the future of reporting things to 9-1-1 looks like, stop by the DeWitt County CENCOM office tonight.

The DeWitt County CENCOM office took the first of what will be a major overhaul of their traditional systems. Tony Harris explains they finished a project that will be the catalyst to them switching to "next generation 9-1-1".

Harris anticipates everything being done in five years and explains the way you once dialed in an emergency will change.

With the changes coming, Harris notes not only are they going to have to accomedate the new way of reporting emergencies, but then locating those is going to be part of the challenge as well.

The CENCOM office will host an open house tonight to showcase the new office upgrades. Harris indicates it will take place from 6 pm to 8 pm and tours start in the lobby of their office at the DeWitt County Building.
