>>Hahn Says Sox Still Deciding On Whether To Buy Or Sell

General manager Rick Hahn says the Chicago White Sox are still deciding if they will try to add or sell players.

The July 31 non-waiver trade deadline is approaching. The White Sox won 13 of 20 games before the All-Star break after struggling most of the way.

width=Hahn says they have to "continue that over the next several days before we stick our flag in the ground."

He spoke before Friday's day-night doubleheader against AL Central leader Kansas City, the start of a difficult six-game stretch. It includes a two-game series against NL Central-leading St. Louis.

The White Sox began the day last in the AL Central and 5 1/2 games out of the wild card despite their recent surge.

>>White Sox DFA 3B Gillaspie

Conor Gillaspie, the Chicago White Sox' regular third baseman in each of the previous two seasons, was designated for assignment by the team Sunday.

The White Sox needed to clear a roster spot for reliever Matt Albers, activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to Sunday's game against Kansas City.

Gillaspie hit a career-best .282 with seven home runs and 57 RBI in 130 games last season, but has struggled at the plate for much of 2015 and has recently lost playing time to rookie Tyler Saladino.

The 28-year-old Gillaspie owns a .237 average with three homers and 15 RBI over 58 games this season. In his three years with the White Sox, he batted .258 with 24 home runs and 116 RBI, with 13 of those homers coming as a rookie in 2013.

Albers has been out for the majority of this season due to a fractured right pinkie finger he sustained during an on-field brawl between the White Sox and Royals on April 23. The veteran right-hander had allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings over four appearances prior to the injury.
