Steelers Ink Tomlin To Extension

width=Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin signed a two-year contract extension through the 2018 season on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Tomlin is set to enter his ninth season as Steelers coach. He has guided the storied franchise to a record of 82-46 with four AFC North titles, five playoff appearances and a pair of Super Bowls.

Tomlin led the Steelers to the Super Bowl title after the 2008 season in just his second year. The 27-23 win over Arizona in Super Bowl XLIII made Tomlin, just 36 at the time, the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl.

The Steelers went back to the Super Bowl after the 2010 season and lost to the Green Bay Packers. Pittsburgh has never had a losing season under Tomlin, twice finishing at 8-8.

The Steelers won the AFC North last season with a record of 11-5 before dropping a 30-17 decision to arch-rival Baltimore in an AFC wild card playoff game.
