Sen. Durbin Salutes Nuclear Deal With Iran

Senator Dick Durbin tried to take colleagues to history class this week. He cited a number of past arms reduction deals in expressing his continued support for the agreement to prevent a nuclear armed Iran.

He says under the deal, the US won't just turn a blind eye to Iran's actions.

Durbin referred to President Reagan's arms talks with the Soviet Union that led to destruction of more than 2,500 short-, medium-, and intermediate-range missiles. While many expressed concerns about the treaty proposal at the time, Durbin says the destruction of the missiles and eventual end of the Cold War shows the benefits of such deals.
