The State of the Maroa-Forsyth Budget at this point last year was not good.

A major budget overhaul and borrowing money were a few of the options that school administrators contemplated as they faced a major deficit. Mike Williams, Superintendent of Maroa-Forsyth Schools indicates the buget is improving as they enter school year 2015-16.

The improved budget outlook can be attributed to a couple things. Williams explains the biggest impact is the local property values. He points out there has been business growth in Forsyth which has helped them out greatly as well increased local property values.

Williams notes the improvement in the local economy is just one of the ways they plan to continue to build their budget back up. He explains they hope to try for a tax referendum once more next year.

Williams says their reserves are down from where they'd like to be but overall he say things are better than what they've been.
