The state has a new Congressman, last week Darin LaHood was elected in the 18th Congressional District.

That leaves his State Senate seat vacant. The 37th State Senate District takes in all or parts of 11 counties. LaHood says it’s a clear process to fill his old seat.

After all the applications are in the County Chairmen will make a weighted vote to select a candidate. LaHood adds that whoever is selected they will need to be ready to run for reelection quickly, his old seat up next year.
