CPD Officially Introduces K-9 Unit

 width=In an unveiling Friday afternoon, the Clinton Police Department unveiled their latest K-9 unit.

The black lab named Charlie will be assigned to Officer Ryan Kemp. Police Chief Ben Lowers indicates the K-9 position was unfortunately opened up after their previous dog tore his ACL.

Exelon was represented at the Friday unveiling of Charlie and Chief Lowers indicates they were a lead supporter of helping fund the purchase and training of Charlie. He says Exelon was joined by many other community entities.

For the Clinton Police Department purposes, Charlie is not an agressive dog. She will primarily be used in narcotics detection and for community outreach purposes.

Exelon was represented Friday by Bill Stormer Friday, additionally, DeWitt County State's Attorney Dan Markwell and representatives from Clinton Area CrimeStoppers were all present at the gathering at the Clinton Police Station.
