The top 10 of the AP saw its biggest shakeup yet after previous No. 2 Alabama and previous No. 6 USC both suffered upset losses at home, making way for Ole Miss and LSU.

The Rebels were the poll's big riser after stunning the Tide, leaping 12 spots into a tie for No. 3 with TCU. Alabama slipped from No. 2 to No. 12, while the Trojans fell 15 spots to No. 19. The Cardinal reentered the poll after a one-week absence at No. 21.

At No. 1, Ohio State remained in the top spot but saw 17 more pollsters change their first-place votes away from the Buckeyes, giving Urban Meyer's team "only" 42 out of a possible 61. Seven of those went to new No. 2 Michigan State, with 11 first-place votes going to Ole Miss.

Michigan State leapfrogging TCU means the Buckeyes and Spartans give the Big Ten the top two spots in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2006, when Ohio State and Michigan famously played as undefeated No. 1 and No. 2 teams.

The only team to drop out of the poll this week was Auburn, heavy losers to LSU, who rose five spots to No. 8.

Another Notre Dame player has suffered a season-ending injury.

Brian Kelly released a statement confirming sophomore safety Drue Tranquill will be out for the rest of the season after tearing his right ACL against Georgia Tech on Saturday. Tranquill tore his left ACL last November.

Tranquill was celebrating a pass break up in the end zone late in the second quarter against the Yellow Jackets when he came down awkwardly on his right knee and immediately collapsed.

This is the sixth season-ending injury to a Notre Dame player this season. Starters quarterback Malik Zaire, running back Tarean Folston, tight end Durham Smythe have all gone down in the first two games of the season, while defensive tackle Jarron Jones and defensive back Shaun Crawford suffered season-ending injuries in fall camp.

The safety position for the Irish now features the two starters, senior Elijah Shumate and junior Max Redfield, with Matthias Farley as the primary backup.

Notre Dame keeps getting wins, starting the season 3-0, but as injuries continue to pile up depth has to become a bit of a concern.
