RECAP: Bulldogs Blast Maroons

In a game heard Friday night on WHOW, the St. Teresa Bulldogs dominated the Clinton Maroons 51-14 in Central Illinois Conference football action.

St. T scored early and often on their Homecoming night, and the Maroons had very few answers for the Bulldogs potent rushing attack.  Junior quarterback Ryan Fyke led the Bulldogs with 10 carries for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He also threw the ball well, going 10 for 17 for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Freshman running back Jacardia Wright also ran 15 times for 117 yards and a touchdown.  Backup tailback Joey Martini carried the ball 4 times for 154 yards and a touchdown.

Clinton was once again led by Junior running back Alec Cooley.  He carried the ball 25 times for 147 yards and a score.  He also caught a 14 yard touchdown pass.  Unofficially Cooley now has 1,033 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns in only five games this season.  Quarterback Nolan Griffin was hurried most of the night by St. T's dominant line.  He was 11 of 21 for only 61 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The Stephan York Country Financial Player of the Game award went to Junior Canaan Isaac, who displayed outstanding speed on several occasions as he chased down breakaway plays.  Three of those plays would've been sure touchdowns if not for Isaac's efforts.

The Maroons fall to 3-2 overall with the loss, and are now 1-2 in CIC play.  St. T improves to 3-2 on the season, and 3-0 in conference.  Clinton next hosts Tuscola next Friday night at home.  Hear the game on 92.3FM WHOW and streamed online at DeWittDailyNews.com.
