Local Family Remembering Their Son on Apple n' Pork Weekend

width=The kettle corn stand at the annual Apple n' Pork festival has traditionally been operated by the Clinton High School golf and football team's.

The two squads would split their time and profits once the weekend concluded, but this year, instead of the football team being the benefactor from the Sunday sales, the proceeds this year went to the #EvanStrong Foundation.

17-year old Evan Workman (right) took his own life last September. According to Evan's older brother Noah, the #EvanStrong Foundation will seek to raise awareness for mental illness and depression.

For Noah and his family, what Evan did was very unexpected. Workman believes people who commit suicide put on a mask of what is really going on. He says his brother did not exhibit signs of being suicidal leading up to his death.

Noah credits his dad, Randy, for making the kettle corn stand a "must stop" at the Apple n' Pork Festival. He says their tent, which is always at the edge of the hill, at the covered bridge, promoted the #EvanStrong Foundation.

Even though the one-year anniversary of Evan's death just passed, Workman says it's no longer a difficult topic to bring up.
